This album will feature progress on a remodel of my family room. The room was stripped to the studs and is being redone in a Greene & Greene style with lots of furniture grade woodwork.
A Google Sketchup drawing of some Greene & Greene style woodwork I'm working on for my family room. All of the woodwork will be riftsawn red oak. The litlle black dots are square ebony pegs.Where the window meets the fireplaceI colored the wood with an analine dye and a glaze to really make the grain "pop" then finished it with 3 -5 coats of Poly / Acrylic.  I know the wood looks rough but it's actually very smooth to theI made the veneered panels in a homemade vacuum press in my shop.  The ebony pegs and layering of all the elements are key to the Greene & Greene style that inspired this design.The beams are about 20 feet long and go up to about 17 feet at the peak.  I made the beams earlier, and regrettably I used flat sawn oak insted of rift sawn, and a standard stain finish.Ebony pegsThe red paint is more of a brick red, not the "neon" red you see here.Back window (updated)The wallpaper is a 20 oz/yard commercial grade wallpaper.  It's comes in a 54" wide roll so I have no seams to worry about.  The ceiling is covered with a product similar to laminate flooring in whiteColor and texture not so accurate in this photo, but as you can see this is a very complicated area of the design.
