I explored the area around the historical Vastine Quarry, near the Shawnee Wilderness Area with the Ohio Valley Trailblazers Meetup Group. From the mid 1800's through the early 1900's, this quarry provided the stone for Cincinnati's Roebling suspension bridge and many historic buildings. We explored the remnants of the old quarry, including old rail beds and skid roads, along with giant cisterns and large cut blocks of sandstone.
